Till It Falls Through

My mind races as thoughts swirl through
Like a sword through the heart it hurts
While I restlessly wait for you
Aching to hear the comforting sound of your voice, and to feel your soft, caressing touch

It feels wrong but I want to make it right
Only to see where this is going
I want to be selfish for a while.
But is it worth what I'll lose—just because I can't control how I feel right now?

And I feel I was better-off numb
When I hadn't let you in
But then I feel I couldn't have done much
When you looked at me like you did

I still don't know where this is going
But I want to give it the best I've got
Because if I lose you now,
I know I'll regret not ever giving you a chance.
